Real Sociedad Stunns Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 victory

Real Sociedad finally ends Atletico Madrid's 100 per cent LaLiga record on Saturday, as they defeated the visiting team with a 2-0 score line. This victory puts Real Sociedad in their first competitive fixture played at the Reale Arena.

So far Atletico madrid had managed three straight wins before the FIFA international break but they turned in a below-par performance, conceding just two goals in a costly three-minute spell in the second half of the game against Real Sociedad.

After a trio of away games at the start of the 2019-20 campaign,

The home team performed excellently in front of their home crowd at their revamped home, when Martin Odegaard's opening goal owed much to a defensive defelection off Stefan Savic.

Real Sociedad further doubled their lead through debutant Nacho Monreal, a former Arsenal defender seizing on a loose ball to strike home ahead of Jan Oblak.

Atletico's goalkeeper was later injured in trying to prevent Real Sociedad striker 'Monreal' from scoring and, after lengthy treatment on the field, was substituted by Antonio Adan.
