UEFA Governing Body Rename Its Competition- Europa Conference League

UEFA have confirmed their intention to rename their new competition, which will begin in the 2021/22 season. The competition will be renamed as the "Europa Conference League".
The overall intention of the governing body was to create a new tournament to go alongside the Champions League and the Europa League in order to involve more teams into continental football.
“The new competition will start in 2021 and is aimed at giving more clubs in more countries a chance to participate in European football,” UEFA‘s statement on Twitter.

The new competition details as confirmed by theUEFAexecutive committee in 2018:
* The new competition will be parallel to the currentUEFA Champions LeagueandUEFA Europa League, and will feature 32 teams in the group stage.
* The format will feature eight groups of four teams, followed by a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final.
* An additional knockout stage will be played before the round of 16 between the second teams of each group and the third-placed sides from theUEFA Europa Leaguegroup stage.
* The new competition will feature 141 games in 15 weeks, exactly like theUEFA Europa League.
* The champion of this new competition will participate in theUEFA Europa Leaguethe following season.
* The games of the competition will be played on Thursdays. As such, the UEFA Champions League continues to be played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the UEFA Europa League and the new competition will be played on Thursday, with an additional starting time slot for a limited number of matches, in principle at 4:30pm (CEST).
