FIFA U17 World Cup : Australia Defeats Nigeria To Qualify For Round Of 16


Nigeria’s golden eaglets yesterday lost to group opponent Australia in a 2-1 in a  third group B match fixtures at the ongoing FIFA U-17 world cup at the Estadio Bezerrao in Brazil.
The goal scored by Peter Olawale was not enough to overturn the loss from Australia’s Noah Botic, which ensured a first-ever win for the Aussies over Nigeria at the FIFA U-17 World Cup level, after six major attempts.
This time the golden eaglets failed to establish a comeback, unlike the other two group fixtures which they recorded an overwhelmy victories, but secured six points from a possible nine, and finished top of the group
Head Coach of the Nigeria side Manu Garba could not be beaten by Ecuador’s 3-2 victory over Hungary in the other group game played simultaneously due to a superior goal advantage.
Nigeria will play their round of 16 match fixtures on November 5 with their new opponent.
