Spanish club side Bacelona have
announced that French international Ousmane Dembele will miss his country
fixtures for the upcoming Euro 2020 after sustaining a right hamstring injury.
The young prolific striker Ousmane Dembele's
injury will also put him aside from his club fixtures throughout the remaining
season. It is an obvious setback for the Spanish champions that will definitely
be with out another striker just last month after losing Luis Suarez to a a long-term
knee injury.
In a statement released by the club
management, is states "The first team player Ousmane Dembele has
successfully undergone surgery ... for a ruptured tendon in his proximal
hamstring in his right thigh. The Frenchman will be out for around six
months,".
In
the recent past, the 22-year-old French striker has suffered a couple number of
hamstring problems since signing for Bacelona fromGerman club side “Borussia
Dortmund” in August 2017 in a transfer deal worth up to 147 million euros
($160.5 million).
Further reports also reveled that Ousmane
Dembele was close to recovering from a previous hamstring injury he sustained
in November 2019 before suffering a relapse during a training session last
week. He was reportedly to have missed various opening fixtures at the camp nou
with a similar injury which kept him out of action for a nearly four months.
From all indication, the young
striker long absence from action could force Bacelona to look into the transfer
window this summer for a possible replacement. It could be possible for
Bacelona to apply for permission from the RFEF to be allowed to make an
emergency signing if granted.
Bacelona possible targets could be
the likes of Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose, Getafe's Angel and Lucas Perez
from Alaves.
So far, Ousman Dembele has made
only nine appearances this 2019/2020 league season for Bacelona.
