Rayo Vallecanco finally returned to the Spanish LaLiga after two years absent

Rayo Vallecano have made it back to the Spanish top league on Sunday after two years in the second division with an attonishly  2-0 play-off victory over Girona.

The win gave the team from the Madrid suburbs a 3-2 aggregate victory after they lost the first leg 2-1 at home last weekend.

Rayo had finished the regular season in sixth place in the second division but they will now join Espanyol and Mallorca, who were automatically promoted, in the top flight next season.

They replace Huesca, Valladolid and Eibar who were all relegated.
