Newcastle Come from Behind to Defeat Wolves 2-1

Harvey Barnes’ spectacular strike secured a 2-1 victory for Newcastle United over Wolves on Sunday, lifting the Magpies to third in the Premier League standings. Despite falling behind in the first half, Newcastle staged a second-half comeback to secure all three points at Molineux.

Mario Lemina gave Wolves the lead just before halftime, finishing off a swift counter-attack. However, Wolves' search for their first Premier League win of the season continued, as Newcastle's superior quality showed after the break.

Eddie Howe’s side, although far from their best, have collected 10 points from a possible 12, keeping them in the upper echelons of the table. Howe made bold changes at halftime, bringing on three substitutes, including Alexander Isak, to shake up a lackluster first-half display.

Wolves nearly doubled their advantage when Jorgen Strand Larsen hit the post early in the second half. But Newcastle’s fortune shifted when Fabian Schar’s speculative shot deflected off Wolves' defender Craig Dawson, looping past goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for the equalizer.

Barnes, who required no such luck, unleashed a stunning rocket into the top corner in the 80th minute, sealing Newcastle's comeback.

Wolves pressed for an equalizer in stoppage time, but Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope produced a brilliant save to deny Matheus Cunha, keeping the Magpies' lead intact. The win leaves Wolves in the relegation zone, while Newcastle move level on points with second-placed Arsenal, just two points behind league leaders Manchester City.
